So you would like Chris to also kick you off that site. He can probably do that

No, I was just thinking since it was for beta testers on CP. Was suprised when it logged me in.
|

And why were you kicked from CP?

I believe[^] it was three posts in the Lounge. It seems a bit harsh to get kicked off for that.

He can always appeal to the Hamsters - but I must admit his posts didn't appeal to me!

I did not exactly bookmark the posts either

Sugs'n'bugs[^] - or you could ask Chris nicely here on RA in the equivalent forum: Sugs'n'Bugs RA[^] and save yourself setting up a throwaway to post the question.
No guarantees, but accounts have been reinstated in the past (you may have to promise to play nice, I dunno).

Thank you but I checked my email and I had already gotten a 'Welcome to CodeProject' message yesterday. Maybe that's a bug I wouldn't know and I was also given 300 points as well for joining (newsletters and sign up), probably its the same way 'those who shall not be named' got back on CP. However, CP does not allow you post any message without creating an account, so, I couldn't access Sugs'n'bugs while I was kicked. Good to be back though, thanks for your help.

RootAdmin Says: Welcome back Bond, you'll be logged in after refreshing this page.
I've never noticed that before.

A new addition. We wanted to make login seamless between RootAdmin and CodeProject.
Now if only we would prepend a "Mr" to your name, and maybe offer you a martini.

It looks like they took a new rating scheme out for a spin. See the new up-down arrows at the left of the message. I am afraid to try it out

Hey lookey! It works for me!
Here's a 5.

That happened. But in a couple of minutes, it was fixed and ratings are back. Yay!

For quite a while it has been bothering me that the time stamps here and at CP are an hour off.
I checked my settings, I had the right timezone selected and Daylight Saving turned off. I tried going back and forth with the timezone and even set it to a zone many hours from mine (you know, to give the system a knee jerk so it might snap out of its groove ), but when I went back to my actual timezone, the result was the same.
I started preparing a post for Site Bugs/Suggestions, but after searching that (CP) forum for "timezone", I found some older posts where it was brought up (Aug. 2012[^], Aug. 2011[^], May 2010[^]).
I have already posted several things in Site Bugs/Suggestions, the CP/RA staff is obviously aware of the issue, which is not really a serious problem and I really don't want to be remembered as "that guy", so I stared at my screen for a second, then went ahead and set my timezone to Mountain Time even though I am in Pacific Time.
So I have an incorrect entry in my settings. I can live with that. That does not bother me at all.

Would you look at that. I figured it was an unfixable issue with your server park and really did not intend to disturb you.
So, I changed the timezone setting and the time stamps are correct now...here on RA, but not on CP. The setting immediately took effect on both sites, but the time stamps are still off on CP.
BTW, what should I do with this thread (leave it, kill it, move it)?

Leave it. I'm sure others noticed the bug too.

Wait. I take that back. It is fixed on CP as well. I was just looking at the wrong entry.
Sorry and thanks.

As an eager beaver I went out today and rolled a number of people over from MSN Messenger acocunts to skype. We ran into two critical flaws and as such I would urge everyone to wait until these have been resolved.
Issue #1 If you do not have a skype account and you migrate over to skype using the process you will end up with a generic Skype ID and you have no option to change it or pick one. Mine was Live:Vince_N yep. N being a sequential number. I was the Nth Vince to go through this process... with likely 300,000,000 more accounts to move over someone is going to end up with a really bad skype name that you can't change. I will include the support chat at the bottom of this as reference and to add some humour.
Issue #2 If you have an MSN and a Skype account and you migrate over using the process they recomend then your new Skype account will be crippled. The biggest issues I saw was anyone that merged there account is unable to be added to group chats with native skype users. You will not be able to backup or copy your MSN contacts that are now in skype and anyone that has you on skype will not be able to send your details as a skype contact. for example. Chris and I merge our MSN and Skype accounts. When I try to send Matthew Chris's contact details I can't. I can only send Matthew native skype contacts.
Now my guess is that issue #2 will be repaired at some point and possibly Issue #1 as well but I would wait or receomend the following process if you are desparate to migrate.
If you don'thave a Skype account
1 Backups your MSN contacts into a file or write them down on paper
2 Log into Skype and create a new skype account(do NOT merge your MSN account)
3 Add your MSN contacts one by one(There is no way to add bulk MSN contacts into skype accept via an address book like Outlook or Gmail etc..)
If you have both accounts
1) Just use skype and add you MSN contacts manually and kiss MSN good bye
Here is the clip from the support chat...
Rutty T.
Hello! Welcome to Skype Live Support! My name is Rutty. How may I help you?
4:42:23 PM live:vince_N
Hi, I have a number of questions, the first is I merged my account and I never got a chance to pick a skype name and it gave me live:vince_N and to be honest it kind of sucks and I feel sorry for the the 69th vince that migrates there account. Is there a way to change my skype name?
4:43:05 PM Rutty T.
I understand that you would like to change your Skype Name. Am I correct?
4:43:38 PM live:vince_N
Yes
4:44:45 PM Rutty T.
Thank you for the confirmation. I'd be happy to assist you with this.
4:44:55 PM Rutty T.
But before we proceed, may I please have your Skype user ID and your name so I can address you properly?
4:45:34 PM live:vince_N
my msn address is XXX@XXX.COM, real name is Vince I am not sure what the skype userID is, is that the live:vince_N one?
4:47:25 PM Rutty T.
Thank you for the information, Vince. And yes, the live:vince_N will do.
4:47:30 PM Rutty T.
Could you hold for 2 to 3 minutes while I'll look up for your concern?
4:47:35 PM live:vince_N
Sure
4:49:10 PM Rutty T.
Thank you for patiently waiting.
4:49:15 PM Rutty T.
Upon checking your account, you have accidentally created a generated Skype account when you logged in to Skype using your Microsoft email address.
4:49:40 PM Rutty T.
That's why your Skype ID is starting with "live."
4:50:08 PM Rutty T.
Anyway, I would like to inform you that it is not possible to change that Skype Name.
4:50:20 PM Rutty T.
Even the normal Skype Name, Vince.
4:51:35 PM live:vince_N
I didn't accidentally do anything I was using messenger and it told me I needed to merge my accounts because messenger is being replaced by skype. Are you telling me that the 300,000,000 users of Messenger will have a skype name of live:firstname_somestupidnumber?
4:54:25 PM Rutty T.
Only if the users will sign in to Skype using their Microsoft account.
4:54:42 PM live:vince_N
I think thats going to be everyone
Well that was fun. I especially like the part where I accidentally created a generated account name

The downside of being on the bleeding edge. Thanks for the warning.
With all the integration it is a bit murky now, but I think mine currently hooks into my Facebook account's chat functionality. I believe I only had my wife as a contact on my original messenger account, so I think I will just let that one die.
