It's been weeks since we've had a stouch[^] about design so I thought it was about time.

Yea! It works now!
I tried it for like five minutes and a couple of browsers but I couldn't get in.

...so I thought I'd post my response here instead.
"The channel, or the dalek?"
Now, what was I trying to respond to?

Just got it back up. Our load balancer got a little scared and confused. The simple application of a large boot fixed it.

Well, I have made the switch from BB to Android. I was on a blackberry for the last 10 years. I dabbled with Iphone a few times, but always went back. I actually pre-ordered an Iphone 5 but the Cell company made a mistake and I had to go in store. When I got there I picked up the Galaxy S3 and now its in my pocket.
I have noticed a few weird things here and there but after two days I am pretty happy with it. The bigger screen is awesome and you can really feel the extra kick from the quad core cpu. So if you are an android user or even better a Galaxy S3 user are there any tips or tricks you can share with me? Things I may not know about?

Get a cover for it. The S-III is expensive to replace when not under warranty.
Scroll your vertical palm across it to take a screen capture or press the power and menu buttons together.

I got one of those stick on front screen plastic scratch protector things, and hopefully tonight I can slip out to the mall and grab a gel cover for it. I have been looking for the tire tread one but can only find them online. I tried the power and menu button thing but that didn't work, I had the motion gestures turned off hoping to extend the battery life, maybe I'll need to turn those back on. I missed like 5 phone calls at first because I couldn't figure out how to answer the phone. lol

The S-III comes with a stick-on and a perforated tab which you can tear to leave the stick-on on. Eventually, those bend and warp and need replacement. I actually dropped my new phone a week or two ago. Unfortunately, it's expensive to fix.

I have a Galaxy Nexus, the wife made her first ventures into android territory this year with and S2, and my dad made his first venture into smartphone territory with an S3 (had an old brick before).
Go to the app store and download Wifi Analyser, great for diagnosing channel congestion, blind spots etc.
I don't know about the S3, but the S2 beeps at you when the battery is charged, annoying at 2 in the morning when you are asleep. There is an app in the app store that can stop this notification. They may have updated the settings in S3 to account for this, negating the need for the app.
