Yeah, I know 65 is not a record, but what has me worried is the age of the OS and even though I have changed it from being in its original Domain to being part of a Workgroup, I have this fear that an update might make it insist on verifying something with its old domain server.
I just don't have time to mess around with problems on that system. It's still working and it's not being used for surfing the web (half of those updates are probably related to IE), so I will just leave it alone for now.

My wife brought home a brand new ASUS Transformer book T1001T.
While trying to troubleshoot why I could not connect to my home network with it , I somehow mangaged to crash the OS that ended up with a Critical process died bluescreen.
I ended up having to do a whole system refresh back to factory to recover from it.
I am now also able to conntect to the wireless network.
Sheesh.
Edit:
Today she decided she did not like it or Windows 8.1 so she took it back after I reinstalled it again and we went and got a Gallixy Tab 3 with a bluetooth keyboard.
Lets see if she like this any better.

...and? What's the verdict between Android and Win8.1?
I have to say that those two devices you mentioned are my least favourite factors: Not keen on the transformers (too much compromise, and Win8.1? Just No). The Samsung? Nicer, but still that feeling of too much plastic and not enough crispness in the buttons - I tend to accidentally press them while using it - something that I don't get on a Nexus or iPad. I've also been burned too much with Samusng's OS update policy and would rather stick with a device tied closer to the OS manufacturer in order to be sure to get the latest OS updates in a timely manner.

She is allot happier with the Android version.
She hated not being able to find her way around the Windows 8.1 OS.
She could not navigate the New IE and got stuck in facebook.
The device itself was not made that well. The tablet docked with the keyboard on the ASUS brand but kept coming loose and loosing the connection with the keyboard.
The Samsung Tab3 is connected with Bluetooth and seemed to be a better keyboard that was purchased seperatly, though I find it strange the use of maganets to hold the keyboard to the cover and even the packaging the keyboard came in used maganets to hold the flap on. I also find it Pricey at $100.00 but the total package was in the same price range as the ASUS version.
She already has a Galaxy S3 Phone so it was more nautral for her to use Samsung.
She did not look at the Apple because of the price range.
It was what best buy had available in the store.
There are not really that many choices for a OS. Windows 8.1, IOS, Android. And what does Google chrome use ?

Yeah. I love the "if you're like me you spend 90% of your time in the browser".
Because Visual Studio, Call Of Duty and iTunes all work so well through a browser.
It's close. Really close. But not yet. 2 years max.

The only time I'm online is for research, and email. but mostly use installed programs to read email.
You can count reading the forums here and at CP as research can't you ?

I bought the ASUS MeMO Pad FHD 10 (it runs Android OS) for my wife for Christmas. So far she is very happy with it and told me how great it is that it works so similar to her LG phone and that it is pretty cool how her downloads and stuff are synced on those devices.
I asked her if she would have wanted a Windows based tablet instead and she said "No". She hasn't actually used a Windows tablet, but she has tried out my Nokia Lumia 920.

The Wife was not happy when she found out that Flash Player is not supported on Android 4.1+
Nor is Adobe supporting the android or IOS platform.
The best I can find you have to use the site apps if you want to watch some of the videos.
No newer browser seems to support the older mobile flash player either.
So far as my research has shown so far.
Wife also thinks it should do everything that her laptop does (Vista).
It dosen't.
I'm still waiting on a new power adapter to see if that is the problem for that.

Yes, they've been spoken to.
We've just implemented new Redis cache servers and there have been a couple of hicoughs.
I should write up our journey. It's been...interesting.

It would be an interesting read I'm sure.
Working on a couple of more articles for here but having some writers block at the moment.
Not to mention those sidetracks
