So I click on the link for the survey on the main page but I get this message: Unable to load the specified survey Honestly, I really wanted to use those five seconds

The link should be good now.

What survey ?
There are non on this site that I know of.

It's a common one with CP: Look near the top left of the home page. Do the survey - you could win a ThinkGeek voucher!
On second thoughts, don't. I want it, and the more people that enter the less chance I've got...

On the topic of shameless bribes, what works best? We've offered Amazon cards before but everytime I wander into ThinkGeek I come out of it a few dollars less endowed than before.
Any sites / services / things (within reason) that would make good prizes?

It's the budget that's the crippler (or the postage!) - and we all have mugs, and mouse mats!
I guess that most of us are pretty well paid, so monetary rewards aren't a lot of help (unless they are serious amounts) and the "good" freebies from those who advertise with you seem to have dried up, judging by the competition prizes.
I'll have a think, and see if I can come up with anything.

We stopped offering these because they were a bit of a logistical headache sometimes, but mostly because we just didn't see a huge general demand for them.

I look at the page every day but don't remember seeing that there.
I guess my eyes must be traind to look at other sections of the page.
Never heard of ThinkGeek either.

Trying to navigate to "Site Bugs / Suggestions", "SysAdmin discussions" and "The Insider News" throws an "Abort, Retry, Fail?" error screen. It's been like that for several days, so maybe you haven't noticed.
Ironic that The Lounge on CP got trashed a couple of times in the past weeks, so Bugs and Suggs became a surrogate Lounge for a few hours and here I am, turning the RA Lounge into Bugs and Suggs.

Eh, for what it's worth, I can get to Bugs and Suggs just fine.

Yes, it is working now.

I told Sean about it on the 22nd

I was browsing around and noticed this ad that listed in large print Windows OS versions then said download for free.
But, If you looked at the fine print it said that you would go to a site and get a free version of a compressor program.
The most interesting part was they had a button to "Don't display this ad again"
So I clicked it and the ad dissapeared and Google promised to show me more relevent ads in the future.
That was nice of them

There's actually two methods to ditch ads that suck: Google sometimes offers the option (which changes offers shown to you only) or you can click the "X" in the top left corner and report it to us, and we'll block it.
Ads pay the bills, but bad ads are not welcome.

I was going to report it as being somewhat misleading for those that never read the fine print.
But found the other button instead.
I'll have to take a closer look for that "X" thingy next time.

Thanks. I just reported an ad this way. It was some kind of Internet service (Infinity-something-or-another), but it was in Spanish .

I just saw an ad at the bottom of the page. I am guessing there was some sort of sizing problem, because all you could see was a huge, green Download button (the kind you see all over). I wanted to report it, but it did not fit any of the three reporting options .

I get it quite a lot now. It could be something following me around (I see another add that has followed me ever since I did a search for a specific company a couple of weeks ago).
I sent you a screenshot, but forgot to mention I am using IE11 on this Win7 64-bit system.

Sounds like you need to clear something out of your IE Temp Folder.
I also found another copy of the Flash ads websites that Flash player does not tell you about.
They are still there even after clearing the Flash cache.

I think the worst I've had was about 195 updates.
It was never the same afterwards.
Now: I've only been bitten by Windows updates twice, and that was many, many years ago - but sometimes its the bugs that rely on bugs that get a bit unstable when you, well, fix the bug.
When it comes to DevOps I am a bear of Very Little Brain.
