After creating my account and loging in for the first time I saw a blinking brief near my name (upper right corner). I moved the mouse and popup came to tell "email needs confirmation", just clicking on it confirmed the email but blinking brief stayed, clicking on it twice made the brief to disappear. All this without going to my e-mail at all.
After that I went to my mail and clicked it correctly, opening the same page with the same message as the first time described above.
Edit: "Me" saw it before[^]

Probably merged ones from CP.

Yep, these are people that hade articles on codeproject that were migrated over to rootadmin. When this was done, we copied over there profiles and the codeproject join date snuck in with that. We will be reviewing this one shortly.

Why would they need to tell us that?

If it was my actual IP then it would be a security thing: just a way for me to confirm I did set up the account. Since it's an internal LAN IP (and not one in use on this side of my router) it's just not very helpful at all.

Ahh good eye's, thanks, should be fixed shortly if not already.

The email also says "The 'http://www.rootadmin.com' at the beginning of the link ensures you are going to CodeProject directly."

That is very odd...I'll look into this, on mine it says RootAdmin. Thanks.
Can you forward that email to webmaster@rootadmin.com so that we can look into that.
Thanks

It is not the link, it is in plain text.

You should be. Always cut and paste web addresses sent to you via email to ensure you are visiting the correct site. The 'http://www.rootadmin.com' at the beginning of the link ensures you are going to CodeProject directly.

I'll forward the email along, but I have another bug report.
When I got the email notification for your message, it came from forums@notifications.codeproject.com. Should probably have come from rootadmin.com.
|
|
|
|
|
As for the email address its coming from, we are currently piggy backing off of the codeproject notification mailers for now until a permanent decision has been made on how to handle the email notifications with rootadmin. We didn't want to setup all of the ptr, rdns mx records etc... just to have to change our minds on how we are doing it. For the next little while it will be like this but eventually this will change.

I have been able to confirm both of these issues, I'll be looking at them today....Now where are those sneaky little devs hiding...time to wake up
|
|
|

The IP issue has been resolved.
The CodeProject wording issue has also been resolved and will be effective upon the next code release.
Of course this won't go back in time and fix it, but for new folks it should be good.
Thanks for the help folks.

When I visited The Lounge, I saw online one message with the subject "Transferred articles...". However, once I replied to that message, I saw two pages of messages in The Lounge. When I visited The Lounge again by clicking the link in the top nav, I saw only one message again. I believe I was on RA-Web2 each time (though I am currenty on RA-Web1 while I write this bug report).

Shoot, looks like my report is a repost of this message. I had my filter set to 3 months. Not sure why that filter criteria would go away when a message has been posted, so I'm still calling this a bug.

The lounge is playing with me as well, sometimes 3 pages, sometimes 2. As well as answers without original posts.

I noticed a little envelope icon blinking on the top right of screen and clicked it to find a message that said my email needs to be confirmed. When I opened that message (on this site, not in my email inbox), I got a message indicating that my email address was confirmed.
Shouldn't that be done through my actual email rather than through the virtual mailbox you seem to be providing?
